It was my first experience with Mixed Media as a person who does art as a hobby and I had a wonder-filled time. The teacher, Jake LaCavera, was very knowledgable and communicated clearly and he made me feel confident that I could create something and to my great joy I love the piece I created in the class. This class made me want to do more Mixed Media art on my own!

I was researching Arizona Native Americans and found Geronimo very interesting. Quote: "He was a fierce leader of the Apache tribe who fought against Mexican and American invaders for decades. He was also a prisoner, a farmer, and a writer. He was Geronimo." I used several photos as inspiration and the painting is what I came up with.

This piece "bloomed" from being in a sad space. I had spontaneously covered my existing canvas with black in frustration, and refocused on the bright and beautiful colors from a recent gift of flowers.

This painting is of a lovely girl at my gym. Honestly, I don?t even know her name, but she agreed to be a subject of a painting. I really enjoyed painting this. It?s acrylic and I plan on giving her the portrait now that it is done! I like painting ordinary people.

Title or Location: Pieces Of Wonderland
My wife really wanted to fill an empty section of wall in her "Alice in Wonderland" themed office. The composition is a chaotic on purpose, but controlled by it's 2 central elements. She likes to look around a painting and find the little things. I worked on this over the courser of about 3 months and was able to finish it and gift it to her on Mother's Day 2025. The painting is 20x24 oil on canvas.

After living on the east coast all my life, we moved to the Tucson area almost 2 years ago. I have always loved the mountains, having lived in New England most of my life. But I never experienced the desert and the mountains. To me, it is a peaceful, grounded, and spiritual experience. I tried to portray those feelings here, and I will probably continue to do that again and again.

Title or Location: Valdemossa in Mallorca
I painted this using Winsor & Newton watercolour paints on Hahnemuhle 140lb paper. I visited Mallorca in 2005 and fell in love with the hilltop hamlet of Valdemossa. I recently found a postcard I'd bought while there and decided to try and capture the image. The PC was very small (smaller than A6) so it was very difficult to make out where one building ended and its neighbour began. I sketched it out first to be sure of my perspective (the painting is 16cm x 13cm) and worked my way across, contr

My name is Dave JarvisI am quite new to painting.I only took it up when I retired from work just over three years ago. I used to work in heavy industry as an engineer. After retirement I needed something to do with my time, I don?t know why I started painting. I just thought I would have a go. Everything I have done has been self taught, picking up tips here and there but mainly from the internet.I find it very relaxing and the time just flies by. Most of my art work is in watercolour
